About Unísono en el Zócalo
Unisono is an annual music and cultural festival held in Chicago’s historic Pilsen neighborhood. Unisono celebrates community empowerment through diversity, education and social justice. The festival features popular musical performances, poetry performances and readings from renowned authors, as well as a variety of free educational and art workshops, art viewings with local artists, and seminars on accessing grants and financial aid assistance for students.
In the past, Unisono has featured performances by Grammy Award-winning groups such as Sones de Mexico, Grupo Fantasma as well as critically acclaimed groups like Pacha Massive, Monica Lionheart, Los Rakas, and many more. Unisono is brought to Chicago and the Pilsen community by The Resurrection Project.
Unísono 2013
The Resurrection Project is proud to announce our Lead Partners for Unisono 2013, they are: The National Museum of Mexican Art, The Greater Pilsen Economic Development Association, andRatio Nation. Unísono 2013 will be celebrating and highlighting its latest community development initiative: La Casa. La Casa is a new, innovative model in student housing aimed at attracting surrounding college-bound students to provide them with a safe living environment and specialized programs to incrementally increase their chances of college success.
Unisono’s 11th Anniversary is expected to attract over 4,000 people and through a partnership with Radio Arte: an extension of the National Museum of Mexican Art and other local broadcasters, the festival will reach more than tens of thousands of individuals over the air.
